Small Talk, Big Difference -Jeff Rosenberry

Fun, animated, and educational... Montana State University-Billings' Jeff Rosenberry showed candidates how Small Talk Makes a Big Difference.

Small talk helps establish rapport, gets candidates noticed, and helps create sound relationships. From handshake to exit, Jeff gave a walk through of how to engage people and really make an impression. Some of the key tips to practice include good body language, have a firm and confident handshake, be positive and sincere. Introductions are key, offer a smile and remember his/her name! Also, initiate those introductions showing initiative, personality, and making the other person more comfortable by extending an invitation. The session also included tricky scenarios including the embarrassing but inevitable sweaty palm and the "I met this person but forgot his/her name" predicament. Small talk plays a large role in a candidate's success. Remember, be friendly and professional, act confident (even if you're nervous!), take initiative in meeting others, and be you!
